Connor on form as Seaford score back-to-back wins at Villa's expense

Seaford Town made it two wins from two to start the new campaign as they comfortably saw off Montpelier Villa 4-0 at The Crouch. A hat-trick from Callum Connor, along with another goal for new addition Hayden Beaconsfield, meant Paul Wise's Town continued their 100% record to start the SCFL Division One season.

Seaford's first substantial chance of the game arrived after 15 minutes, when a searching pass from Alex Saunders was eventually taken down by the feet of Connor who produced a perfectly weighted backheel to find the path of strike-partner Josh Wright, whose dinked effort found the wrong side of the post.

Having enjoyed the majority of possession and chances throughout the opening half hour, Seaford took the lead from the penalty spot thanks to Connor's first of the season. After Wright had done well to hold the ball up down the right flank, captain Matt Simpson produced a low ball towards the near post, with Connor able to get the first touch on the ball before drawing contact from Villa 'keeper Paul Upford.

Seaford doubled their lead less than ten minutes later, with Beaconsfield adding to his opening day brace with another goal. After a free kick from 25 yards struck the foot of the 'keeper's right hand post, Beaconsfield was on hand to follow up, unchallenged from close range.

The visitors' first real chance came on the stroke of an hour, when substitute Jack Collins rounded Wester Young after being played through on goal, however his effort was cleared off the line by the recovering Toby Potter-Drake.

With Paul Sargeant's Montpelier stretched in their attempts to get back in the game, Connor managed to score his second and Seaford's third in the 78th minute, firing under the body of Upford from the centre of the box after being found in space by a Luke Burbidge delivery.

Connor completed his hattrick with five minutes of normal time to play, after a well-hit effort from late introduction James Kendall was parried only as far as the forward, who dispatched from the edge of the six yard box for the hosts' fourth and final goal of the evening.

Town will travel to Banstead Athletic on Saturday 20th August in their next league fixture, before returning to The Crouch next Tuesday 13th for the visit of Forest Row in the Peter Bentley Challenge Cup.
